Celtic boss Neil Lennon claims that he would accept the season being halted due to the new mutant Covid-19 strain with Rangers 16 points clear in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic are under heavy pressure in the title race with Rangers rampant in the Scottish Premiership and stretching out an early lead over their Glasgow rivals.

Lennon – who was infamously awarded a league title over a Zoom call last season despite the season being suspended – claims that if football has to shut down, then “so be it”.
“I just think it depends on the area where you are living in,” said Lennon [Scottish Sun].
“The south-east seems to be really bad with the new mutation of the virus and London has been heavily hit again.
“In Scotland, we do not seem to be too badly affected compared to other parts of the UK.
“But it is obviously a very serious situation that the UK finds itself in at the minute.
“If it means football shutting down then so be it.”
Lennon has previously claimed it would be “such a shame and really sore if we had to close it down again” earlier in the season, demanding his players are “standard bearers” for the country [Herald].
There’s little doubt Celtic could use a breather – as evidenced by a planned January trip to Dubai – and Lennon’s tune may be a little different if his side were out in front.
These latest comments are in stark contrast to the more enthusiastic ones of August but the situation is somewhat different Covid-wise and with regards to this new mutant strain.
That hasn’t stopped Rangers fans being a little more sceptical of the Celtic manager’s comments and suggesting that if the season is called, 16 points is a big enough gap to award the Gers the league:

Celtic have also been coming in for a bit of stick for their claims that they produced a “world first” in securing a quadruple treble last weekend.
The latest side to come out roaring against the Hoops’ claims have put forward the suggestion they’re not even in the first side in their city to achieve the feat.
