Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Malik Tillman has been linked with a move to VfB Stuttgart after a proposed switch to Rangers collapsed this summer.
According to German outlet Stuttgarter Nachrichten, the USA international, 21, is wanted as part of a substantial Bundesliga rebuild at the MHPArena side.

Having already signed six players this summer, the report claims that Stuttgart have now held “exploratory talks“ about the transfer of Malik Tillman with Bayern Munich.
With the attacking midfielder also out of contract in the summer of 2024, the report acknowledges that Bayern Munich would first have to negotiate a new contract with the former Ibrox loanee.
Stuttgart are also trying to shift players from their bloated attack with the suggestion being that despite the interest, any proposed deal for Malik Tillman is still far from being completed.
Malik Tillman linked to Stuttgart as Rangers watch on
Rangers fans will have one eye on the situation given that, even though Bayern cancelled the loan-to-buy arrangement from last season, the club are not completely out of the running with regards the player.
The Gers are reportedly set to be compensated to the tune of £1m after Bayern ripped up the Ibrox club’s previous loan option, which would’ve let Malik Tillman move to Rangers for around £5m [the Times].
Instead, Bayern Munich opted to cut their losses on the deal with Stuttgart one of several clubs being linked to Malik Tillman, interest in the attacker also said to be coming from the Premier League.
Despite all this, there is a potential outcome where Malik Tillman winds up back at Rangers before the transfer window slams shut and much of it depends on what happens at Bayern Munich.

A busy window is expected at the Bundesliga champions whilst manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to run the rule over Malik Tillman this summer.
Should the attacking midfielder sign a new deal then we suspect Stuttgart won’t be the only loan suitors for last season’s PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.
Rangers might well put forward a strong case to bring the player back to Ibrox for another season, the youngster having impressed across 43 games in Scotland where he scored 12 goals.
