Leading Sky Sports and TalkSPORT broadcast journalist Jim White is the latest to claim that Rangers’ trip to play Celtic in the Sydney Super Cup is in jeopardy.
White was speaking after a series of angry protests from Rangers supporters during the 2-1 win over Dundee which disrupted the game and have polarised the Ibrox support.

But one thing Rangers fans are in agreement on is that the friendly should be pulled with the Gers coming out of the Sydney Super Cup marketing looking pretty awful.
Not only has the Sydney tournament been labelled “Ange’s homecoming” by Celtic and media in Australia – Rangers therefore a footnote in the club’s 150th anniversary year – but tournament details were suspiciously leaked during a period of awful news coming out of Celtic.
Rangers fans also want nothing to do with the Parkhead club, who have treated the Gers with nothing but contempt over the years, and are clear the two factions are anything but friendly.
Rangers fans clear on Celtic Sydney friendly stance
Amid fierce protests amongst the Rangers support – many of which are verging on or absolutely are counterproductive – reports came out Down Under that the game was “in serious doubt”.
According to Jason Pine, this could concern the timing of the release of tournament details.
Speaking on TalkSPORT [21/02/22, 12:39pm] Jim White then appeared to confirm these claims by suggesting his own sources had cast doubts over whether the fixture would be going ahead.
This could be because of the baggage now attached to the fixture.
“The intelligence I’m getting on this one is that now the organisers are thinking [it’s too much like hard work], yeah,” he said.
“There could well be a reason of timing, there might be some other reason but they might throw it into the mix that it seems as if it may not be taking place.”
Meanwhile, whilst on the pitch the upcoming Premiership clash between Rangers and Celtic promises to be anything but friendly, it is a must win for the Gers.
