Sports broadcaster Ali de Foy has responded to a Mexican Rangers fan who was gifted a special signed jersey at New Edmiston House.

De Foy was hosting the club’s Fan Zone inside the new state-of-the-art building at Ibrox ahead of the clash with St Mirren and was the one to pass the special jersey on to Luis Suarez.

The Mexican Rangers fan – who runs the Rangers FC Mexico account on X – had travelled all the way to Scotland to watch his heroes in action.

Having been in attendance for Rangers’ 1-1 Europa League draw with Aris Limassol during the week, the supporter was back to watch the club play St Mirren.

And some Rangers fans at Ibrox obviously caught wind of Luis’s adventure to Glasgow and helped to make it quite a special occasion ahead of the 2-0 victory.

Mexican Rangers fan presented with signed jersey

Presenting the Rangers supporter with a signed jersey, it’s a moment we’re sure Luis will never forget.

After the smiling supporter posted a video of the moment on X, Ali de Foy responded with a message of her own, recognising the Mexican for making the trip to Scotland.

The broadcaster also took the chance to apologise for getting Luis’s name wrong as she handed him the jersey.

“Brilliant from the Rangers fans,” wrote De Foy on X. “Sorry I pronounced your name wrong Luis but great to meet you.”

Earlier De Foy had previously Tweeted praising X user Barry Smith for his role in getting Luis the signed Rangers top.

Credit to those Rangers supporters who helped organise this moment for Luis and we wish the Ibrox supporter all the best as he travels back to Mexico.

Rangers’s fanbase stretches far and wide and the club’s reach has even expanded into Central America with Mexican Rangers fan Luis sure to remember this trip for a long, long time.

Rangers of course do have something of a Mexican connection, with two of the club’s former players hailing from the famous nation.

Whilst Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera didn’t work out at Ibrox – for vastly different reasons – the club has had representatives from the country turn out in Glasgow.

Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha – who signed the Mexican duo to the Ibrox squad – has also managed extensively across Mexico.
