Brian Laudrup is remembered by most Rangers fans as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
The former Ibrox winger stands as one of the most talented footballers to ever step through the doors at the famous stadium with his impact at Rangers legendary.
But it’s not just on the pitch that Brian Laudrup appears to have built a legacy at Ibrox, with the Great Dane also playing a key role in bringing one of the Gers’ best players of the modern era to Glasgow.
Peter Lovenkrands a boyhood Rangers fan
Peter Lovenkrands might have joined Rangers as a fresh-faced 20-year-old but the young Danish striker knew all about Ibrox before moving to Scotland.
That’s because Lovenkrands’ father used to fly over to Ibrox Stadium to watch Brian Laudrup during the Great Dane’s time in Glasgow, leading to a young Peter becoming a Gers fan.
With Lovenkrands father urging his son to play in Scotland, Rangers moved for the forward in the year 2000 and Peter spent six years in Glasgow.
In a remarkable twist of fate, the former Rangers attacker has also claimed that Laudrup played a crucial role in bringing him to Scotland.
”A lot of people don’t realise I was actually a Rangers fan later on because of Brian Laudrup,” Lovenkrands told the Warm Up.
”My dad used to fly over and watch Brian play and stuff like that with my mum, they went up the highlands and stuff
”They’d always come home and say ‘play in Scotland’ and I was like ‘aye, very good’.
”It wasn’t when I was young, young but when Brian came and I followed Rangers because I love him and his brother.
”When I came, my brother had just signed for St Johnstone so lucky I had him to help me settle in as a young boy only 20-years-old.
”It was a strange thing because I know I got brought in and I though I got into the first team, kind of with the academy/reserve team most.
”I was playing there and kind of up and down a lot.
”I found out that Dick Advocaat had no idea about me really. David Murray had brought me in because of Brian Laudrup.
”So Brian had told him to go and get me so Dick Advocaat didn’t really know anything about me.
”That’s why I got put on the left wing, because of my pace. But I was a striker all my life, up front playing number nine.”
Peter Lovenkrands pays tribute to Arthur Numan
Peter Lovenkrands arrived at Rangers from Danish club OB Odense during the reign of Dick Advocaat.
But back in the year 2000 Lovenkrands had a tough gig to break into a star-studded Rangers team.
The winger had to adapt to his new surroundings and the expectations of playing in Glasgow.
Lovenkrands was also played out of position for the bulk of his time at Rangers, forced out onto the left wing despite spending his early career as a striker.
Reflecting on his time in Glasgow, Lovenkrands admits that had it not been for one Rangers hero in particular, things might not have turned out so great at Ibrox.

”Had it not been for Arthur Numan, and don’t tell him I said that, but it’ll probably come out now anyway,” said Lovenkrands.
”He was my left back and he basically told me ‘I don’t want to see you anywhere near me, just focus on going that way, just listen to what I tell you and do what you do’.
“Had I not had that kind of guidance and help from players I’d have probably been lost out there trying to figure out what I’m doing in a 4-4-2 on the left wing.”
