Boss rejects claim club is interested in player some Gers fans want at Ibrox

Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell is one name some Rangers fans would like to see at the Ibrox club with plenty of speculation regarding the player as his contract runs down.

The Scotland youth international, 22, is widely regarded as one of the best young midfield talents in the division and more than a few Rangers fans have mused over the potential of signing him in the past.

Whilst there has never been any concrete suggestion of Rangers’ interest, Campbell has been linked with a move to the likes of Aberdeen and Hibs ahead of next season [Daily Record].

However, there has been some confusion regarding reported interest in the player from Championship side Luton Town.

According to the Daily Record, Luton sent representatives to watch Campbell in recent weeks and want to make their move for the midfielder.

But any suggestion they are set to move was later quashed by Luton Town boss Nathan Jones.

“No, not at all [no truth in the reports],” said Jones.

“It’s wrong of me to speak of anyone else’s players and the boy is at Motherwell, so I know Graham (Alexander, Well manager) very well, but no, no interest in that.

“People will talk, people will try to generate interest.

“A lot of people have used our name because we are the type of club that likes to get people, so to generate interest, I would imagine someone has put that in the paper.”

As it stands there has been no official mention of Rangers regarding the player who has already made over 150 appearances for the Motherwell first team.

Meanwhile, one of Rangers’ biggest assets reportedly wants to stay at Ibrox next season with one eye on the Champions League.
