Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos wants to stay at Ibrox for a crack at the Champions League despite Premier League exit talk regarding the player.

That’s according to the 4th Official, who are claiming an exclusive on a story that will be music to the ears of Rangers supporters.

Colombian forward Morelos, 24, is a fan favourite at Ibrox and when fit and firing there are few players in Scotland who can perform at the level of the striker.

According to the 4th Official, “sources” have “reliably” confirmed that the firebrand striker – who has netted 93 goals for Rangers at the time of writing – “wants to stay on at Rangers” next season.

Morelos has shone on the European stage for the Ibrox giants and is already the club’s greatest ever European goalscorer, his 23 goals an all-time Rangers record.

The striker has also been recognised by UEFA as the players who has scored the most European goals before Christmas in a campaign (14).

It’s on this stage that Morelos is at the peak of his powers and if this report is to be believed the allure of testing himself at Champions League football is enough to make him want to stay in Glasgow.

This news also comes despite Morelos previously discussing his Premier League “dream” and potential “opportunities” in the summer [Scottish Sun].

Rangers also turned down a reported £16m move from French club Lille last summer with the Gers believed to value Morelos at £20m [Daily Mail].

Perhaps Morelos has taken stock and been careful what he wishes for with plenty of his career to go and all the optics suggesting he is very happy in Glasgow.
