Borna Barisic can provide much needed balance to this Rangers side

Balance at either side of the pitch is something we’ve lacked for a while at Rangers.

Down Rangers right we’ve had the ever-reliable, if not without criticism, James Tavernier for years. On the left, we’ve regularly been light.

We might’ve found the answer with Borna Barisic. He could be the mirror image on the left. And he might even wind up being better than our athletic Captain. Time will tell.

A strong, solid, talented left wing back, Barisic was flying up and down that wing against Hamilton. An all-rounder, he looks a more comfortable defender than Tavernier too.

As Borna Barisic finally begins to find rhythm and gets a run in the first team, Gerrard’s image for the side has become clearer.

Of course, he needs to start getting the numbers James does, but I’ve no doubt that’ll come.

He also has a good relationship with fellow former NK Osijek player Eros Grezda down the left. This is something fans are getting very excited about. Like Barisic, Grezda just now needs games to settle into the team after injury problems.

But Croatian international Barisic looks like he’s getting back into his stride after a rocky start to his Rangers career.

He’s got a wand of a left foot and had shown us that against the likes of St. Mirren and Villarreal before he was consigned to the treatment table.

Now, the former Osijek captain could hold the key to finding some balance with this Rangers side.

Who knows, he might hold the key to unlocking a title race too.
