Two goals in the space of three minutes late in the first half from skipper James Tavernier and striker Alfredo Morelos gave the visitors an unlikely 2-0 advantage at the interval, and then four minutes into the second half, John Lundstram made it three.

The midfielder arrived onto a cutback from the brilliant Ryan Kent and found the bottom right corner from the edge of the box, sparking wild celebrations.

Dortmund pulled a goal back almost immediately through Jude Bellingham, but Rangers scored a fourth just three minutes after that in what was a remarkable contest.

Raphael Guerreiro found the top left corner in the 82nd minute to keep Dortmund in the tie heading into the second leg, but the Gers are now favourites to progress after one of the most remarkable wins in the club’s 150-year history.

It was dreamland for Bears watching around the world and Wednesday midfielder Byres certainly enjoyed it.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Byres celebrates Rangers win

The 25-year-old, who’s previously played for Watford, Swansea City and Portsmouth, makes no secret of his love for Rangers on social media.

In fact, he even has the title celebrations from outside Ibrox last season as his Twitter header.

Unsurprisingly, he was pumped up after watching the match and he celebrated on Twitter.

“THE FAMOUS GLASGOW RANGERS,” he tweeted, followed by two Union Jack emojis.

Byres initially struggled for playing time at Hillsborough after joining from Swansea on a two-year deal in August, with injuries holding him back, but he’s been excellent recently.

He’s started each of the Owls’ last four EFL League One matches, scoring the opening goal in two of them.

In other news, Nnamdi Ofoborh also tweeted a brilliant reaction to Rangers’ shock triumph.
