Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has had plenty of doubters throughout his footballing career.
A few more when it comes to management are not going to do any harm.
Rangers hero Ferguson is one of the club’s most decorated footballers and according to Steven Naismith, one of the most talented players to ever pull on the blue jersey.
On paper the former Rangers captain has all the credentials necessary to make it in the management game.
But the last few years have seen Barry Ferguson take a step out of the limelight in the shape of punditry work and an ambassadorial role at Ibrox.
Barry Ferguson makes ‘end of season’ Rangers plea
A lack of managerial experience, Fergie having failed to impress in the Scottish lower leagues, hangs over Barry Ferguson as he looks to take charge of Scotland’s biggest club.
But whilst the critics are already sharpening their knives, or at least their pens, Ferguson has asked to be judged when the final whistle goes this season.
”Judge me at the end of the three months,” said Ferguson, addressing his first press conference as Rangers manager.
”I have no issue with (being pre-judged). Everybody’s entitled to their opinion. One thing you will get from me and my staff when I’m coming in here, and I’m not taking this lightly, I’m taking it seriously, and that will start tomorrow night (v Kilmarnock).
“So I would rather be judged come the end of the season, but also know I’m going to be judged game by game. This is just the nature of the beast when you’re at Glasgow Rangers.”
Barry Ferguson reacts to Philippe Clement sacking
It’s been a whirlwind 48 hours for Barry Ferguson as Rangers look to steady the ship after sacking Philippe Clement.
Ferguson has his reasons for bringing in his own backroom staff and Clement’s exit was increasingly predictable as the weeks wore on.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insists that Philippe Clement is still a ‘very good manager’ despite being given the chop by Rangers.
And for the first time Barry Ferguson has been giving his two cents on Philippe Clement’s exit.

Explaining that he’s not had the chance to speak with the ousted Belgian, Ferguson insists like the rest of us, he had been hoping Clement might be able to turn things around.
“I’ve not (spoke to Clement) because I’ve not had any time,” said Ferguson. “I’ve been non-stop the last 48 hours.
“Whenever a Rangers manager takes a job, I’m desperate for them to do well. The club have made a decision. Now I need to focus on myself, my staff and most importantly the players. So that’s been my thoughts over the last 48 hours.”
