Barry Ferguson fires warning for under pressure Rangers duo

Barry Ferguson knows what it takes to win at Rangers and saw plenty of players coming and go in his two spells at the club.

The former skipper saw signings bought from Barcelona, Chelsea and Ajax amongst other European giants but pedigree was no guarantee of success.

Now, writing in The Daily Record, Barry Ferguson has a word of warning for two Rangers regulars who could be facing a possible departure from Ibrox.

Barry Ferguson calls for Rangers stars to make their minds up

Fergie reveals the two players who need to put up or ship out with their recent performances against Olympiacos doing little to suggest that they would be popular names on the team sheet against Kilmarnock next week.

When asked about the pressure of life at Rangers, he said:

“Just ask Borna Barisic and John Lundstram who have been around here long enough to know how it works but who are now getting it in the neck because they’ve not quite been up to speed.

“There are now questions being asked about whether or not they should be moved out this summer as both are entering into the final years of their contracts.

“They’ll have to decide now if they want to sign new deals to stay and fight for a place in the team. Or if it’s starting to feel as if their time here is up.”

They were both appalling against the Greeks.

Not just poor, almost hilariously bad.

Lundstram’s first minute saw him miss three tackles and give the ball away twice, and it didn’t get any better.

Despite being one of Michael Beale’s leaders, he has a lot of players in front of him for game time now too and that will only get worse when Jose Cifuentes signs.

As for Borna Barisic, Ridvan Yilmaz showed more in the final Old Firm derby of last season than the Croatian did almost all of last season.

Big decisions need to be made by the Gers gaffer but with two players in the final year of their contracts who shouldn’t be guaranteed starters, it shouldn’t be a touch call to make.
