Award-winning Hibs full-back Josh Doig is one of the hottest properties in Scottish football at present and he’s caught the eye of Rangers fans several times this season.
The talented teenage full-back is the Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year and a majorly influential part of the Hibs side which finished 3rd this season.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard even talked up the player’s talent as he discussed a “fascinating” battle between Doig and Rangers’ teenage right-back Nathan Patterson in April.
It’s had some Rangers supporters musing over the possibility of a potential move but there are a couple of factors which might make this is a no-go for the Ibrox club.
Firstly, Doig signed a new contract at Easter Road this season which ties him to the club until 2025 and wouldn’t come cheap.
It’s not clear exactly how much the player would cost but Hibs view Doig as a top asset and talent and anyone interested in the player will need to dig deep to convince the Hibees to sell.
According to the Scottish Sun, Premier League-bound Watford could bid up to £4m for the youngster.
Rangers have also never been officially linked to the player but they’re about the only club that hasn’t at this rate with no fewer than 11 sides linked to Doig in the past.
Most recently journalist Stephen McGowan linked eight clubs to the 19-year-old [Scottish Daily Mail 21/05/21 back page] in AC Milan, Watford, Club Brugge, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Southampton, Stoke City and Cardiff City.
Old Firm rivals Celtic as well as Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea were linked to the youngster by Sky Sports in January.
The youngster is one of the country’s most highly sought after talents and if Rangers want to sign the player they face some stiff competition – and Hibs aren’t exactly our best pals either.

The Gers do have strong options in the player’s position; there’s no way Doig would ever depose Croatian international Borna Barisic whilst ex-Leicester kid Calvin Bassey is very much a work in progress.
But would we be missing out not at least putting our hat into the ring for the youngster?
Doig isn’t the only player in the Scottish Premiership who has caught the eye of some fans – only unlike the other major example he hasn’t just handed in a transfer request.
