Arsenal star Alex Iwobi once named new Rangers signing Glen Kamara in his Ultimate footballing XI.

Kamara came through the youth ranks with Iwobi at the Emirates and it’s high praise indeed from the Nigerian international.

Iwobi slots Kamara into a midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil. Not too shabby company to be in either.

“You may be shocked, but I’m going to put Glen Kamara,” said Alex Iwobi. “In the Under 18s, if I was playing with Glen I used to enjoy playing with him.

“We used to have the ball all the time, he used to keep the ball, dictate play and even now he’s doing well.”

Whilst this is obviously an XI of players that Alex Iwobi has played with, it’s testament to Kamara’s ability that the Arsenal attacker has included him.

It’s not the first time Kamara’s been credited with an Arsenal connection either. Speaking to The Daily Record, ex-Ranger and former Dundee boss Neil McCann compared Glen Kamara to Arsenal legend Patrick Viera.

No pressure then.

Glen Kamara joined Rangers from Dundee on transfer deadline day in January. This was after the midfielder originally signed a pre-contract on the same day as Jordan Jones in early January.

Some fans are very hungry to see what the midfielder can bring to the team. These comments from Alex Iwobi earlier in the year will only further whet their appetite to see the midfielder in action.
