It’s been widely reported this morning that Steven Gerrard and Rangers are looking at no fewer than four players in January.
Rangers are reportedly looking for a striker, a creative attacker, a midfielder and a defender. A striker to supplement Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty is said to be the priority.

Gerrard has said time and again this is about quality, so I fully expect Rangers to push the boat out if true.
Are these the four players Rangers are targeting in the January window?
Striker – Dominic Solanke
The one link that just will not go away, the January transfer window is the last throw at the dice for Rangers and Solanke. Only 20, he is touted as one of England’s finest young talents. He can play across the frontline and the physical presence would light-up the league here. Solanke can also lead the line up front on his own. A no brainer if we can make a loan deal happen.

Creative Attacker – Jordan Jones
The flying Killie winger is a very good player and would add real industry and creativity to Rangers in transition from front to back. He has a mean cross, can score goals and is not scared to take players on. He was strongly linked with the club last season and we even entered a bid. With his contract up at the end of the season, Rangers could be set to pounce. Jones was also spotted in the Rangers end against Aberdeen.

Midfielder – Steven Davis
Steven Davis is a former Rangers captain and knows exactly what it means to play for the club. At 33, he might not have time on his side but the Northern Ireland captain is still as fit as a fiddle. This one really feels like a goer. Links have been seemingly endless. There are fewer players more suited to solving our creative problems in the short term. You are my Davis…

Defender – Milad Mohammadi
The Iranian left back was loosely linked with Ibrox at the beginning of the season and the club could yet be tempted to make a return. I think any defensive signing will be a reinforcement for a stretched left full back position. I also think it’ll be the most left-of-field signing, no pun intended. With scouts at AEK Athens and Panathinaikos last week, it shows Rangers are casting their net far and wide. With Katic and Barisic already joining from different markets, perhaps this position could be filled the same.
