After Blackpool centre half Curtis Tilt reportedly signed on at a new agency (The Sun on Sunday – 24/02 p.64), it has once again raised questions over Rangers interest in the player.
Tilt, 27, is a solid option at the back and League One Blackpool’s main man in defence. The Daily Mail (05/01 – p.111) linked the player to Rangers in last month’s transfer window.
Rangers will need defensive reinforcements in the summer. Joe Worrall intimated to The Scottish Sun his intentions to return to Nottingham Forest, whilst Gareth McAuley’s one-year deal expires then. In the style of modern English defender who can still take a no-nonsense approach, is Curtis Tilt a readymade replacement for the former?

The club could certainly do much worse. Whilst the Sun report on Tilt moving agent says the player is looking for a move to the Championship, there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t be interested in Rangers. Tilt himself told The Daily Mail that “it would be great” to play for the club.
Tilt’s contract expires in the summer
Tilt wouldn’t command a transfer fee either – his two year deal at Blackpool expires in the summer. It would however be a big step up for the player.
English League One is the highest level the player has played at. He joined Blackpool from National League Wrexham and playing his full career in the English lower leagues prior to the move. Life could’ve been so different for the player too – he worked at a quarry from ages 16-20.

In the shape of Jamie Vardy we’ve seen how there are some gems from the lower leagues in England.
It’d also be huge for the player if he got a chance at Ibrox.
Would you take Curtis Tilt in the summer?
