Rangers legend Ally McCoist claims that it’s time for Alfredo Morelos to start taking responsibility for his actions [originally Daily Express]. And that his disciplinary problems are putting clubs off moving for the Ibrox star.
It’s very difficult to disagree with him. Rangers fans have stuck their neck out for Alfredo for long enough. He needs to repay that faith with improved composure on the pitch.
But whilst that puts off potential suitors it might not necessarily be a bad thing for Rangers. If we can get Alfredo’s head in the game, we could yet get another season out of him.

And if this season is anything to go by – despite all of the red mist – what a player we’ll have next year.
Morelos has been our star man this season, banging in 29 goals for the club. He’s also been sent packing an amazing five times, albeit one was rescinded.
His superb form has been somewhat dampened by all this disciplinary nonsense. He would probably be
But even if Morelos does wisen up, he’s up against it in Scotland.
Does Alfredo Morelos need more protection?
He is that heavily scrutinised in the press that the Rangers Managing Director even felt it necessary to call it out. The furore around him means opposition players, managers and fans react so exaggeratedly during incidents.
Morelos is targeted, but he’s shown himself to react to it. The other side of this is that even if Morelos does channel his aggression, what if he isn’t afforded the protection by the powers that be to perform?

There is an argument to suggest that by staying in Scotland it might stifle Morelos’ development rather than progress it. A move elsewhere may allow Morelos the serenity that a lack of fame or infamy brings.
One thing is for certain – McCoist’s comments and the drama around Morelos mean nothing is certain when it comes to the Colombian.
Not the clubs which he is interesting, not him channelling his aggression, and least of all whether he’ll be at Ibrox or not next season.
