Former Celtic star Alan Stubbs appeared to have a memory lapse as he claimed Rangers manager Philippe Clement is yet to win anything.
The Ibrox boss has of course lifted the League Cup and is on course to potentially secure what would be a legendary domestic treble.
With Rangers also still firmly in the Europa League hunt, the Gers manager has given the support permission to dream.
But according to Alan Stubbs, it is a “fact” that Philippe Clement is yet to deliver on anything with Rangers. We’re not so sure about that, Al.
Alan Stubbs in Philippe Clement memory lapse
Speaking via an interview on the PLZ Soccer YouTube channel, Alan Stubbs was asked about the difference in atmospheres around Philippe Clement and Brendan Rodgers.
Whilst initially positive about Celemnt, the ex-Celtic defender went on to incorrectly claim that Rangers are yet to win anything under the Belgian.
Philippe Clement guided Rangers to their first League Cup in the best part of 13 years with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen in December, but who are we to deny Mr Stubbs a comfort blanket?
“The response that Philippe Clement has got from his players, not just results but how they’ve bought into this style of management, you can’t not say it’s been impressive,” said Stubbs.
“He’s done a really good up until now, without winning anything. We must state that fact. The crucial matches that Rangers are going to be judged on are upcoming.
“We could be having this conversation again in four to six weeks time and we could be saying something different.
“But it’s right in saying that Philippe Clement has turned this group of Rangers players around to a strong looking team.”
Whilst we’re sure that the Celtic-minded will point to the Scottish Premiership or even the Old Firm derby, it’s not like they’ve given the Belgian manager a proper chance.
Celtic still ‘slight favourites’ over Rangers
Alan Stubbs was also asked who he believes are the title favourites over Rangers and Celtic and you’ll be unsurprised to hear he chose his former club.
The ex-Everton defender did however claim that Rangers could not be written off in the Scottish Premiership title hunt.
“I don’t think technically they are as good as the Celtic team,” said Stubbs.
“But in terms of getting the results and finding a way to win, I think he’s done that better.

“I would still slightly put Celtic just favourites, only because they have a group of players that have been there and done it.
“But in terms of a momentum, Rangers are certainly on the front foot and do look like a team right now that is a team that is striving forward that could potentially win the league.”
Rangers leapfrogged Celtic to the top of the Scottish Premiership over the weekend courtesy of a 3-0 win over St Johnstone.
