A director of Dutch champions Ajax want the Eredivisie title declared null and void as Rangers fans await a verdict on the Scottish Premiership season.
Legendary Dutch winger Marc Overmars believe “the league is dead” and should be cancelled due to the global pandemic in irritated comments which appeared in De Telegraaf.
The former Arsenal star was speaking out about the Dutch football governing body the KNVB whom alongside UEFA Overmars compared to the Donald Trump administration.

The comments of the ex-Barcelona wide man come after the KNVB announced they would be postponing the Dutch footballing league until August 3rd, in line with guidelines released from UEFA.
“The league is dead, life is more important,” said Overmars.
“Why would it be about money and not people’s well-being at this time? I had hoped that the KNVB would take an independent decision, but they are now hiding behind UEFA.
“I think that they had been put under big pressure by UEFA to continue playing at whatever cost.
“I’m comparing the KNVB and UEFA with the sentiments of American president Donald Trump a week ago when he thought the economy was more important than the coronavirus.
“Hallo! There are more than 100 people dying daily in the Netherlands because of the coronavirus.”
Overmars is currently the Amsterdam club’s technical director and his anger comes with last season’s Champions League semi-finalists currently first in the Dutch top tier.
The league’s record winners are tied on points with surprise Europa League package AZ Alkmaar but are top by virtue of having scored more goals.

If the league was to end with the current standings incredibly Ajax would be awarded the title, but the Dutch club clearly feels there are more important things happening right now.
Ajax aren’t the only league leaders demanding cancellation either.
Juventus fan groups revealed they would reject the league title [Diario AS] if the Italians are awarded the Scudetto this season.
