Ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final, Derek McInnes insists his ‘best’ Aberdeen side will turn up, as quoted by The Scotsman.
The Dons are currently going through some patchy form.
In fact, their home record is decidedly poor of late, with just one win in their last seven.
They have shown they can compete with Steven Gerrard’s team, though. They secured two wins and a draw against the Gers earlier in the season.
However, the only fixture at Pittodrie to date, finished 4-2 to the visitors.
Most recently, lowly Hamilton went to the granite city and emerged with the spoils. Yet, their manager thinks Sunday will be different.

“Sunday demands that competitive side that my team show when they are at their best and there’s no doubt the supporters will be right behind the team”, said McInnes, as quoted by The Scotsman.
“The supporters will demand the game is played in a certain way, with plenty of tackles and aggression and huge commitment.”
“We have been very smart with our work as well as being competitive and there will be a balance of that for us to get a result on Sunday.”
Of course McInnes is going to promise the earth ahead of this fixture.
Boos rang around the ground after the midweek defeat and he needs to look to get the fans back onside.
Surely, with the teams recent record at home, though, confidence will be low among the players.
This one will be fiery as always, but there’s no doubt the momentum is with Rangers.
