Rangers 9 in a row legend Stuart McCall has responded to comments made by former Gers midfielder Ian Black with a stinging riposte.
Black had previously criticised McCall, saying he had no time for the former Gers boss and berating him for telling him late about being omitted for the Championship play-off final.
But McCall has refuted those claims, calling Black a liar and calling the disgraced former Gers midfielder “bitter”.

“Black’s comments are disappointing because they are lies,” said McCall, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“Ian is sounding like an angry and bitter little man here. The whole haircut thing is just embarrassing.

“He came to see me about four or five weeks into my tenure at Rangers. He was an experienced player but Kyle Hutton and Andy had been given their chance in his absence.
“Murdoch scored a screamer at Raith Rovers and he was training well too. Ian came to see me and asked what he could do to get in the team.
“I told him that if Rangers played with two holding midfielders he’d be in the team but that we were trying to win games so we didn’t need two.
“Ian shook my hand and said he was glad he had spoken to me. He totally got where I was coming from and said he couldn’t argue with it.
“It’s funny because when I was the manager of Bradford and he was playing for Shrewsbury he came over and shook my hand and said: ‘How’s things going, gaffer?’
“I won’t be losing sleep over it.”

Rangers fans had a very mixed reaction to Black’s comments about McCall but perhaps what Stuart has had to say will clear a few things up.

McCall is a Rangers 9 in a row hero whilst Ian Black is a loud-mouth midfielder who struggled in the lower leagues, betting against his own side in the process.
There’s only one winner in this argument.
