Nils Koppen will already be hard at work with his recruitment team trying to identify the sort of talent that can instigate a 20-point swing.
The Rangers squad has a core of youngsters with potential, an alarming shortage of players who can be trusted, and senior players who really should be doing more.
Signing potential can be a cost effective way of building a squad, however, Rangers need to sign established pros who can go straight into the starting XI and contribute immediately.
They say you should never go back, but has one former Ibrox cult hero who still divides opinion hinted at a return?
Fashion Sakala left Rangers for £4m in 2023 after being forced out by Michael Beale and has clearly not forgotten what he had.

Has Fashion Sakala hinted at a return to Rangers?
Posting on Instagram, the Zambia international was in reflective mood after seeing his old team cough up another trophy-less season:
“Next season will fight again.
“Club with passion and big dreams.”
He couldn’t, could he?
Sakala wasn’t perfect, far from it, but he left Rangers with a solid return of goals and assists – 39 in 91 appearances.
He was also honest, hard working and provided that rarest of qualities – he caused chaos.
Pace has always been the worst nightmare of Scottish Premiership defenders and Sakala has it in a abundance.
Derided for a couple of costly Old Firm misses, it’s easy to forget that he also caused Celtic problems too.
With just a year left of his Al Fayha contract, he might be looking to return to a more competitive environment.
Sakala opens up on being cast aside by Beale
Sakala loved his time at Rangers and the way that Beale treated such a positive and likeable character still leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
When speaking about his departure, Beale’s lack of managerial experience stood out a mile:
“He didn’t talk to me about anything or any transfers,” Sakala said when asked about his deteriorating relationship with Beale.
“He clearly showed me that I wasn’t part of his plans without telling me anything. The time I received a call from Mick Beale was when he told me not to come to the training ground anymore.
“That was hard for me because I didn’t do anything. Players leave clubs but they are not told not to go to the training ground, not told not to be part of the team.
“You can have clubs that can come in for you but still, you are training with the team. I stayed without training with the club for almost two weeks.”
