Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe has become the first Gunners midfielder since now Rangers star Aaron Ramsey to score 10+ goals in a season at the club.

The talented 21-year-old England international netted the opener in Arsenal’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Brentford to break the record, which has stood since season 17/18.

The goal was the 10th of the season for Emile Smith Rowe with ex-Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey netting 11 in total four years ago.

Interestingly, it’s not just the record of Rangers star Aaron Ramsey’s that Emile Smith Rowe has claimed with the goal, but also that of ex-Arsenal Academy graduate Cesc Fabregas.

Going even further back, Emile Smith Rowe is the first Arsenal Academy graduate since Cesc Fabregas to score 10+ goals in a season.

This dates back to the 09/10 campaign when the former Spanish international and now Monaco midfielder scored 19 goals and laid on a further 20 from the middle of the pitch.

Emile Smith Rowe Arsenal’s best goalscoring midfielder since Aaron Ramsey

It’s an elite club for the Arsenal kid to join and if anything highlights both the talent of Emile Smith Rowe and the potential of Aaron Ramsey at Rangers if the club can get the midfielder fully fit.

Signing on deadline day in a loan deal from Juventus, Aaron Ramsey is already beginning to settle into life at Ibrox and is growing with every passing minute in a Rangers shirt.

There’s still some way to go before the Welsh international midfielder gets fully firing but as Rangers get to the business end what an asset Aaron Ramsey could prove to be.

Emile Smith Rowe is very much at the beginning of his journey with Arsenal as he emerges as a key first team player, the Gunners even turning down a reported £30m Aston Villa bid in the summer.

But if Aaron Ramsey can replicate the kind of form at Rangers that the 21-year-old has just equalled at Arsenal, the Gers could be in for an exciting few months indeed.

Speaking of Aaron Ramsey, the player’s agent has branded one journalist’s speculative story regarding the move to Rangers as “stupid” and “disrespectful”.
