The agent of Welsh international midfielder Aaron Ramsey has slaughtered an outspoken Celtic-leaning journalist for “rag journalism” surrounding the player’s move to Rangers.
Alison McConnell described Rangers’ loan move for Juventus midfielder Ramsey as “desperate” and claimed it pointed to a lack of defined transfer strategy at the club [PLZ Soccer].
Claiming the move was a “last throw of the dice”, McConnell also suggested Rangers scrambled to secure the heavily sought-after midfielder before the deadline closed. This is not the case.
A prominent reporter on all things Celtic, McConnell writes extensively for the Celtic Way and has worked for a range of prominent Scottish publications.
It’s led to accusations that the story appears more about triggering Rangers fans and sourcing rage clicks than it does about actually analysing the deal or providing more information or insight.
Aaron Ramsey agent slams “stupid” Rangers-baiting article
The antagonistic story didn’t go down well with Ramsey’s agent David Baldwin, who blasted a “total lack of understanding” on the deal, branding the column “stupid” and “disrespectful”. Ouch.
Rangers media partners Heart & Hand then chimed in to ask why a prominent Celtic fan journalist was asked to write this story on the Ibrox club, despite allegedly having no knowledge regarding the inner workings of the deal.
The fact David Baldwin – a man involved in high-profile transfer deals at the top of the global game – has responded to this will be a great source of embarrassment for the journalist in question.
Unless of course, Aaron Ramsey’s agent is just another fish caught on the baited hook of a story many believe has been designed to get under the skin of Rangers fans rather than contribute anything telling to the conversation.
Aaron Ramsey certainly looked like a happy bunny as he started the 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Annan Athletic at Galabank.
