Rangers-supporting Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie has responded on Twitter after the Gers announced the signing of John Lundstram.

Lundstram’s capture on a free was confirmed on Monday afternoon following considerable speculation.

His arrival improves Steven Gerrard’s options in midfield, with the Gers boss referencing the 27-year-old’s ‘technical ability’ and ‘physicality’ as key attributes.

The player himself is also raring to get going at Ibrox.

“I spoke with the manager and he sold the club to me, and I was just taken aback by his ambition, vision and drive,” he said [Rangers.co.uk].

“I know Glasgow is like Liverpool – a proper football city with proper football fans, and I know the people are very similar and I am buzzing to be a part of the atmosphere I am moving into.”

Plenty of Rangers fans gave the move their seal of approval on social media and it’s fair to say that McBurnie also believes it’s a good bit of business.

The £20m striker is a Gers fan who played alongside Lundstram at Bramall Lane for two seasons.

McBurnie himself has been linked with a big-money move to Ibrox this summer [Daily Mail] but while that may be a tad unrealistic, he’s backing his former teammate to shine in Glasgow.

“Things you love to see! what a man, what a player and what a signing!!” he wrote on Twitter in response to the announcement, followed by love heart and Union Jack emojis.

Some Sheffield United fans were somewhat triggered by the tweet, but it proved popular with fellow Rangers supporters, racking up close to 5k likes.

In other transfer news, a starlet recently released by the Gers is reportedly on the verge of joining an EFL Championship club.
