Rangers target Harry Souttar is enduring a difficult season but still can’t stop scoring for Australia on the international stage.

The international break is coming to an end and that means Rangers will be back in league action in just a couple of days.

Philippe Clement will be leading out the Rangers side for the first time having been appointed as the new Gers boss on Sunday.

Clement has been working with his players in the last few days only a handful of Rangers players away with their countries this week.

Rangers may have even been scouting some players in this international break with Clement no doubt expecting additions in 2024…

Rangers target Harry Souttar continues to shine for Australia

One player on the Rangers radar is Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, who missed out on a late move to Ibrox.

The Daily Record reported on deadline day that Rangers were looking to offload Ben Davies and bring in Souttar on loan.

No deal was done though and Souttar has been struggling for playing time under new Leicester boss Enzo Maresca.

Souttar has made just one Championship appearance this season and still has some way to go before convincing Maresca.

The giant defender is in limbo just months after joining Leicester for £15million but he keeps shining for Australia.

Australia beat New Zealand 2-0 on Tuesday night and Souttar opened the scoring at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.

That’s now eight goals in 19 caps for Australia, with Souttar continuing his quite astonishing goalscoring record at international level.

Souttar to Rangers left in doubt for January

Souttar may still be wanted by Rangers but the departure of boss Michael Beale leaves this rumour up in the air.

Beale was taking the lead on Rangers’ recruitment following Ross Wilson’s departure, sparking the interest in Souttar.

Beale has gone and Rangers are now looking to bring in a new sporting director amid links to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Sam Jewell.

A new era is starting at Rangers and it’s unclear whether Clement would continue the interest in Souttar – even if he can’t stop scoring for Australia.
