Rangers fans cannot believe what they’ve just witnessed after Rabbi Matondo put on a superb showing in the thumping 6-0 Saturday win over Ross County.
The Welshman was handed a start on the wing by Philippe Clement despite transfer speculation linking him with a move out of Govan with Blackburn Rovers linked.
But Matondo shrugged off the speculation and proved to his manager he is worth keeping around this season after registering his best game in Rangers jersey.
The 23-year-old – who cost £2.5m from Schalke 04 in 2022 – was in rampant form and notched two goals and two assists as Rangers swept aside Ross County at Hampden.
Matondo and Cyriel Dessers had Rangers 2-0 up at the interval before the winger sealed his brace after 69 minutes with a close-range finish.

Rangers fans on Matondo’s display
He also set up Dessers and Tom Lawrence in the second-half with Rangers fans flocking to social media to express their amazement at Matondo’s unbelievable showing.
One fan asked on X: “Where did this Matondo come from?”
While another said: “What level of voodoo are we watching??? Matondo, CD9 & Lawrence all scoring…”
This supporter was rightly surprised: “Is this a Rabbi Matondo brace and 2 assists?”
And one punter asked: “Is this Matondo or Messi in disguise”.
Big week for Matondo amid speculation
Has Rabbi Matondo now made himself an indispensable member of the Rangers squad this season after that cracking performance?
Or does it mean there’s now a greater chance of Rangers raking in a decent transfer fee for him as the clock ticks down on the deadline next Friday.
Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing the winger and may now step up their pursuit after witnessing a devastating display that hasn’t been seen before from Matondo in a Gers jersey.
Will Rangers cash in and give Clement the chance to bring in his own talent? Only time will tell.
