Rangers secured a 3-1 victory over Dunfermline Athletic in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly game.

Derek McInnes won his second game in a row, albeit an unofficial one, with his side picking up a 5-1 win over Raith Rovers last week.

Bojan Miovski, Ryan Naderi and Mohamed Diomande scored for the Ibrox outfit, which helped secure the win.

Dan Neil appears to be doing his bit to prove he’s going to be a regular starter

McInnes surely has liked what he’s seen from Dan Neil even before he joined Rangers, and his pre-season minutes are showing that he is likely to be a regular starter.

Neil was handed a start yet again against Dunfermline, and he was sharp in and out of possession.

He partnered with Lyall Cameron in the middle of the park, who appears to be fighting for his place in McInnes’ plans.

Bojan Miovski and Ryan Naderi make a case to be the third-choice striker at Rangers

Should Youssef Chermiti stay amid interest from Lyon, he will likely be the shadow striker in McInnes’ 4-4-1-1 system behind Lawrence Shankland.

Naderi and Miovski will be the third and fourth choice options, and both would want to be the first striker off the bench in competitive games.

They were both given a chance to stake a claim playing in the same eleven in the second period on Wednesday, and the duo did a phenomenal job, chipping in with a goal apiece.

Both strikers joined the club last season and would want a greater involvement in the coming weeks and months.

Ben Godfrey is being viewed as more of a centre-back by McInnes

Ben Godfrey started the game on Wednesday, partnering Emmanuel Fernandez in the heart of the defence.

The Englishman has played as a right-back extensively for Everton, and with James Tavernier and Max Aarons leaving, it was unclear if McInnes saw him as a full-back or a centre-back.

Early indicators suggest that it is the latter, which means that only one more central defender transfer is likely before the end of the transfer window.
