Rangers have yet to win a game as their 2024/25 campaign struggles to get going after two draws in the opening fixtures.

The stalemate at Tynecastle was poor, however, the Champions League qualifier with Dynamo Kyiv saw spirits raised considerably after a late Cyriel Dessers equaliser.

With Ibrox still out of commission and the Rangers squad still not up to scratch, Philippe Clement will be hoping that an injury-hit Motherwell are put to the sword in the first “home” fixture at Hampden Park.

Rangers v Motherwell predicted XI

Jack Butland looked back to his imperious best against the Ukrainians in mid-week and will continue between the sticks looking for his second domestic clean sheet.

In defence, the quartet more than held their own against a dynamic Dynamo forward line, even if the goal that was conceded was soft.

It was hoped that Robin Propper would make the team but he will be more up to speed now and a home game against a weakened team is the perfect way to introduce the Dutchman.

Leon Balogun has been Rangers best centre-half in the two games but he needs to have his game time managed, despite his detractors, John Souttar remains Clement’s first choice man in the middle.

At full-back, James Tavernier was much improved in the Champions League and Ridvan Yilmaz – aside from losing possession for the goal – offered a threat going forward.

The Turkey international also linked well with Jefte down Rangers left.

Clement has difficult midfield decision to make with hands tied

Midfield and the forward line is harder to call.

Clement spoke about rotating his squad, but who does he have available?

Other than Kieran Dowell, options are limited without Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi to call upon too.

Rotation should be the name of the game, but only after Rangers have put a stranglehold on the game.

Start strong, then bring on the likes of Dowell.

The forward line could see some changes in that a new front three could feature players who have yet to start this season.

Jefte was a breath of fresh air on the left with Vaclav Cerny providing a rare moment of quality that shows what an upgrade in personnel can achieve.

Having been asked to do a power of running recently, Cyriel Dessers should get a bit of time off with Danilo yet to feature.

Rotating without weakening the team is key as is getting rusty players up to speed and this line-up achieves both:

Butland, Tavernier, Ridvan, Propper, Souttar, Barron, Diomande, Lawrence, Cerny, Jefte, Danilo.
