Rangers are set to face off against former Academy striker Zak Rudden as the club prepare a Scottish Premiership visit to Dundee.
The 23-year-old former Rangers youth striker has been heavily involved in newly promoted Dundee’s season to date and could be set to face his former side for only the second time in his career.
This comes after Zak Rudden left Rangers permanently for Partick Thistle back in 2020 following loan moves to Falkirk and Plymouth Argyle.
Rangers fans will remember Zak Rudden scoring in a 6-0 pre-season friendly win over Bury back in 2018 with high hopes surrounding the bluenose forward making the grade in Govan.
Former Falkirk manager Ray McKinnon got fans even more excited when he likened Zak Rudden to Rangers legend Ally McCoist, who is the Ibrox side’s all-time top goalscorer (355).
Rangers even reportedly inserted a buy-back clause into the striker’s contract as part of the switch to Partick Thistle three years ago.
Rangers could face Zak Rudden in trip to play Dundee
Rangers refused to activate the clause with Zak Rudden initially moving to then Premiership side Dundee on loan in January 2022 after signing three-year pre-contract at Dens Park.
Zak Rudden did turn out for Dundee in a 2-1 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox in March of 2022 before the club’s eventual relegation that season.
The striker netted five goals for the Dee in the Championship last season before Rudden joined Premiership side St Johnstone on loan in January.
Zak Rudden never played against Rangers during his time at McDiarmid Park but his Dundee teammates did manage to earn a quick-fire promotion back to the Premiership.

This season, Dundee are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership table but are only two points from 11th in the congested Scottish top flight standings.
Back at Dens Park, Zak Rudden’s only Premiership goal for Dundee this season came in the 2-2 draw away to Kilmarnock and the striker will be hoping to find his shooting boots v Rangers.
Ibrox fans will also get a glimpse of a striker once touted to finally fill the boots of the club’s greatest ever frontman.
Speaking of strikers, Rangers boss Philippe Clement has also hinted that Ibrox’s latest hero could be in for a start in Dundee.
