Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez scored his first-ever international goal for Nigeria on Tuesday night.
Fernandez decided to represent Nigeria a few weeks prior to the international break and thus far, the decision has been paying off.
The Rangers centre-back started the game and played the full 90 minutes in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Jordan.
Peterborough’s Director of Football has made a bold claim…👀
How much can Rangers demand for Fernandez? 🤑
Heart and Hand thrilled by Emmanuel Fernandez’s first goal for Nigeria
Heart and Hand, the official sponsors of Rangers, reacted to Fernandez’s strike on X.
David Edgar, who runs the account, wrote a three-word message to celebrate the 24-year-old’s achievement.
Sharing footage of the goal, he wrote: “There he is!”
Fernandez found himself on the right side of a ball into the box that actually was not intended for him.
However, despite that, he managed to control it with his right foot, moved it to his preferred left side and fired the ball past Yazeed Abulaila in the Jordan goal.

How Rangers managed to sign Fernandez in the summer
Kevin Thelwell is a big reason for the Gers securing the services of Fernandez in the summer.
Last season, in January, he watched the centre-back play the full 90 minutes in an FA Cup tie against Everton.
Despite Peterborough losing 2-0, Thelwell, then at Everton, was pleased with what he saw.
Once Thelwell joined Rangers, he wanted to bring Fernandez to Ibrox as well, and they made the deal happen for a £3.5m fee.
Danny Rohl has lost just one league game as Rangers manager…
If YOU were to change one thing about his management style for next season, what would it be? 🤔
Gers knew they were not signing a finished product, and it took Danny Rohl a while before he fully trusted Fernandez, but there is no argument that he is now the best defender at the club.
Rohl would want to keep Fernandez at Rangers beyond the summer, but knows that a big-money offer may not be turned down.
It remains to be seen if the Light Blues succeed in keeping the Nigeria international at Ibrox beyond the summer.
