Rangers predicted XI vs St Mirren: Philippe Clement makes midfield swap

Rangers carry on their assault to usurp Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a clash away to St Mirren this lunchtime.

A win in Paisley for Philippe Clement’s men can lift them to within two points of their arch-rivals before they play Ross County a couple of hours later.

It will be the third game in a week for Rangers who have made a fantastic return to competitive action from the winter break after wins over Dumbarton and Hibs.

In terms of team news, Clement doesn’t have too many fresh injury concerns. In fact, Alex Lowry is the only new absentee after the manager confirmed he will be out for six to eight weeks after picking up an injury on loan at Hearts.

Both Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin have recovered from their niggles on Wednesday night but will they both make the starting XI at the SMiSA Stadium?

We believe Cantwell will slot back into the attacking midfield position after scoring a sensational goal against the Hibees.

But for Raskin, this could be a game where Clement leaves him on the bench. The manager confirmed the 22-year-old is available for selection but he’s only just returning from a long lay-off and he could be handed a rest this weekend.

The rejuvenated Dujon Sterling has been impressive under Clement and would the man to take Raskin’s spot alongside John Lundstram in Paisley.

Rangers must be prepared for a more physical challenge against St Mirren and Sterling would fit the bill perfectly. He’s not just a destroyer though – the former Chelsea man can play which we witnessed in Leith.

Bar Sterling for Raskin, Rangers shouldn’t shuffle the pack too much. We expect Cyriel Dessers to start instead of Fabio Silva too. Here is our Rangers predicted XI for today’s match:
