The games keep on coming as Rangers warm up for the Old Firm on Saturday with a home clash against Ross County.
After Christmas Eve’s comfortable win over Motherwell at a blustery Fir Park, attention now turns to keeping Philippe Clement’s excellent unbeaten start alive at Ibrox on Wednesday.
Kieran Dowell continued his impressive form with a goal on Sunday, while Todd Cantwell added a second. It really should have been more on the day but three points keeps us ticking over nicely.
Rangers sit two points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but could be further behind come kick-off versus the Staggies depending on our rivals’ result against Dundee on Boxing Day.
But Gers will be expected to see off Derek Adams’ men in Glasgow and set up a tantalising encounter against Celtic at the weekend.
Clement to make a couple of alterations
The treatment room at Ibrox remains jam-packed so the games that come thick and fast at this time of year will be a test for the fit and available players.
Unfortunately, Connor Goldson has been added to that ever-growing list after limping off with what appeared to be a groin strain against Motherwell.
It’s highly unlikely the central defender will start on Wednesday. The priority should be giving Goldson every chance of appearing from the start in the Old Firm, but even that is doubtful at time of writing.
We think John Souttar will replace Goldson at the back, with Clement to make one more change – that being Rabbi Matondo for Ross McCausland.
The Northern Irishman perhaps wasn’t at his flying best at Fir Park and he could be important for Celtic at the weekend. So Rabbi Matondo will be handed a fourth Premiership start of the season to impress.
