Rangers will be taking on Kaizer Chiefs in a pre-season friendly as Derek McInnes and the squad are set to jet out to Spain.

The game will be played behind closed doors, much like the two matches the Light Blues have played over the last few days.

Rangers beat Dunfermline Athletic 3-1 on Wednesday, and a few days before that, they enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Raith Rovers.

“To confirm: No fixture at the camp will be open for supporters to attend.”

However, Rangers News understands that the game against the Kings will be taking place in Spain.

The South African club have officially confirmed matches against Al Kholood and Elche CF.

However, they have admitted that there could be other games scheduled against international clubs as they will also be in attendance at the training camp in Murcia.

What can Derek McInnes expect to gauge from the game against Kaizer Chiefs?

Derek McInnes knows that results are not imperative in pre-season, and the main thing for him will be to see how his players respond to the changed conditions.

The games mentioned above were in Glasgow, and the weather is going to be significantly warmer in Spain.

There is an expectation to get the win against Kaizer Chiefs, but it will be a good opportunity for the young players to take on senior players, as they will want to prove that they deserve first-team opportunities.

It will also give McInnes an idea about which players are ready to be a part of his squad and which ones need to be shipped off, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
