Rangers fans are tipping young midfielder Stephen Kelly to get his opportunity against Dunfermline in the League Cup after he appeared on the front page of the match’s programme.
Kelly, 21, is a product of the Ibrox youth academy and has spent the last two seasons developing out on loan with Ayr United in the Championship and then Ross County in the Premiership.
Despite Steven Gerrard’s intimations that he will play a strong squad for the match, Kelly’s potential inclusion is one which has plenty of fans excited.
The youngster impressed in pre-season and for many supporters could be the long-term answer to the ageing Steven Davis.
The Ulster maestro remains a hugely influential player for the Gers even at 36 but given Dunfermline’s Championship status this could be a huge opportunity for Kelly to impress.
Fans are tipping the youngster to at the very least be involved as Rangers look to bounce back from three straight defeats and get their season back on track v the Pars:

This comes after Steven Gerrard did admit he’d make “some changes” for the match but insisted the starting XI will be a strong one.
“We’ll prepare in the best way we can,” said Gerrard [RangersTV].
“I’ll make some changes for Friday night but I’ll still be trying to pick a team that has matchwinners on the pitch, so there won’t be drastic changes.”

The calls for Kelly to be instated into the starting line-up also come after another young midfielder plying his trade in Scotland impressed this week.
Gers supporters were once again calling for the club to move for the international youngster who continues to impress on the European stage.
