Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and Bongani Zungu could all be available to feature for Rangers against St Johnstone on Wednesday night as a decision has not yet been reached on what punishment, if any, they will face for breaching Covid regulations [Scottish Sun].

The three Gers first-team players, as well as loanees Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear, were charged by the SFA after a gathering was broken up by police in February.

They were initially handed immediate four-match bans with two further matches suspended, but Rangers opted to appeal that verdict, ensuring that the only time the players have been unavailable since the incident was when they were observing their isolation periods.

With the appeal hearing scheduled for Tuesday, it was thought that a final decision would be delivered before the day was out, with Patterson, Bassey and Zungu all set to miss the Gers’ trip to Perth in the Premiership even if their initial bans were substantially reduced.

However, while the Scottish Sun reports that the process did get underway on time, no verdict has yet been reached.

Therefore, it’s now thought that there’s a chance of all three players being involved at McDiarmid Park, in what would be a triple boost for Steven Gerrard.

Patterson has excelled at right-back in recent weeks when deputising for James Tavernier and he could continue in the side if it’s deemed that the skipper isn’t yet 100% fit.

Meanwhile, Bassey and Zungu are regulars in the matchday squad, with the former providing cover for Borna Barisic at left-back and the latter often appearing as a substitute in a central midfield role.

St Johnstone are set to be understrength for the clash due to an Ibrox transfer clause.
