Predicted Rangers XI vs Celtic: Two changes as Hamza Igamane starts and Jefte dropped

Barry Ferguson already seems to have a different approach to picking the Rangers team compared to Philippe Clement.

With a near fully fit Rangers squad, he has plenty to choose from although there are already indications that once a player is available, they are available.

Connor Barron missed several weeks before going deep into injury time in only his second appearance back whilst John Souttar and Leon Balogun have also been thrown in at the deepend.

There will be a few tired legs for the trip to Parkhead with Vaclav Cerny passed fit by the Rangers manager already, tiredness is in the head according to the Hall of Fame legend.

With little other than pride, local bragging rights and three points at stake, this is your predicted Rangers XI to take on Celtic in the east end of Glasgow.

Predicted Rangers XI vs Celtic

The biggest talking point over the last couple of games against Fenerbahce has been the formation.

Scott Arfield wants James Tavernier at right-back despite some impressive performances in the middle of defence.

The irony being, that even if he doesn’t move position, it could still be a familiar Old Firm story of Tavernier vs Daizen Maeda.

Why change something that isn’t broken though, specially given Rangers’ recent problems at Parkhead, however, swapping Jefte for Ridvan Yilmaz makes sense.

It is a similar story in midfield, on too many occasions in derbies over the last 2-3 seasons, the Light Blues’ engine room has been overrun.

The more defensive trio of Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande offers more protection and the chance to turn defence into attack.

Why rotation is needed in attack

Cyriel Dessers battled manfully against Fenerbahce at Ibrox, but it makes no sense to run him into the ground when there are other options.

Hamza Igamane brought a ball carrying threat that might be needed against Celtic, and Danilo’s mobility and movement could be usefully too.

Danilo will also have a point to prove after his reaction to not replacing Cerny despite being stripped and ready to go.

Fresh legs would also be handy to offload Cerny’s after a monumental shift in mid-week.

Hopefully, he has his shooting boots on this time to match the work load.
