Celtic legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has been raving over Rangers manager Danny Rohl in the build-up to the Scottish Cup quarter-final clash.

While the former Hoops forward wants the visitors to win on Sunday, he has been impressed with Rohl’s tenure at the helm.

The German replaced Russell Martin in October and has turned around the fortunes at Ibrox, putting the Gers in the title picture and giving the side a realistic chance to win the double.

Kenny Dalglish lauds Danny Rohl for the turnaround at Ibrox

Dalglish has admitted that he has been impressed with how Rohl has turned the fortunes around at Ibrox following Martin’s dismal start.

He believes that the German had a lot to deal with when he walked through the door, but the fact that he has brought them so close to the top spot in March is commendable.

The former Celtic interim manager has revealed that he is excited for the weekend’s Old Firm and is looking forward to the atmosphere in the stands.

He does expect there to be heat and intensity from both sets of fans and has stated that the game could go to penalties as well.

Dalglish told the BBC: “Danny Rohl’s done well. He had a lot to pick up and both of them (and Martin O’Neill) have been excellent.

The more it’s 50-50, or the closer it gets to 50-50, the better the atmosphere will be.

“And it’ll be pretty hot on Sunday, I think.

“I don’t know if you could choose between one or the other. Somebody’s going to have to win, but it might go as far as penalties.

“If you can predict an Old Firm game you’ve done well. The last game [2-2 at Ibrox] and the game at Celtic Park [1-3], you wouldn’t have predicted that result. After about half-an-hour at Ibrox on Sunday, you wouldn’t have predicted that.”

What is the Rangers team news for the Celtic clash?

Rohl confirmed that it is a full house in training ahead of the game against Celtic, but that does not mean everyone will be ready to play.

Mikey Moore is an injury doubt, although the German expects him to brush it off ahead of the Old Firm derby.

Connor Barron, Max Aarons and Derek Cornelius have all been in full training and could make the matchday squad.

Barron is not likely to start as he has been out with an injury for two months, so the Gers are expected to take a conservative approach with him.

Rohl may continue with a 4-2-2-2 system with Ryan Naderi leading the line, or he could pick Mohamed Diomande and revert to a 4-2-3-1.
