As Rangers prepare to welcome Borussia Dortmund to Ibrox in the Europa League, they’ll need to contend with a man on-form in BVB captain Marco Reus.

The Germans will be coming to Scotland looking to overturn a 4-2 deficit after a stellar Rangers performance stunned the Bundesliga outfit in the Signal Iduna Park.

But whilst that result was clearly a sore one for tournament favourites Dortmund, the club roared back with an impressive 6-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend.

Marco Reus netted two goals in that match but was involved in five in a rampant performance that will have Rangers wary ahead of next week’s return clash.

The German international may have earned the plaudits for his performance but speaking after the match, was eager to put all the focus back on the team.

“We had to show a reaction and we did that,” said Marco Reus [Daily Record].

“I don’t like to be praised individually, as a team we played exceptionally well. When we press high, things are always easier.

“What that says about us as a team though is that if things don’t start well for us in a game we need to keep calm and let our class show. That will be very important.

“We know we have a cup final on Thursday, there’s a big game waiting for us and we’ll be ready.”

Marco Reus, 32, joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2012 on a reported £12.6m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Since then the 48-times capped Germany international has gone on to become synonymous with Dortmund, playing 348 games, scoring 153 goals and laying on 108 assists.

If Rangers are serious about knocking the German giants out of the Europa League, then they’ll know they will need to keep the form winger quiet on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, some Rangers fans have been questioning the club’s January transfer business after an injury to one of the Ibrox side’s latest signings.
