Outspoken broadcaster’s Hearts Rangers claim backfires spectacularly

A pre-match tweet from outspoken broadcaster and prominent Hearts fan Ewen Cameron has backfired after Rangers dumped the Jambos 2-0 at Tynecastle.

There was much confidence around Edinburgh heading into the match and a feeling from elsewhere that this might be a game that Rangers slip up in the title race.

But the Ibrox side held their nerve and were bold in their team selection to go 2-0 up within 15 minutes and hold on for the rest of the match, much to the dismay of Ewen Cameron.

Ewen Cameron claimed Rangers would drop points to Hearts

Speaking before the game, Ewen Cameron summed up the confidence in the Hearts camp ahead of the match with Rangers and this wasn’t without good reason.

The Jambos are going good in the Scottish Premiership and they are 3rd place for a reason, opening up a five point gap between themselves and 4th even before a ball was kicked today.

Rangers too have had a torrid time of it at Tyncastle in recent seasons and went into this match having lost their last two games at the stadium with Steven Gerrard famously almost walking after a Scottish Cup defeat in early 2020.

Ewen Cameron took to Twitter pre-match to claim “Hearts won’t lose today” and that “Gio will experience his first dropped points as Rangers manager”.

Impressive Rangers prove Hearts and Ewen Cameron wrong in strong showing

Rangers fans were left impressed with the focus and determination of their side in the win at Hearts which heaped the pressure on Celtic prior to their match with Motherwell.

Whilst the Parkhead club might’ve eked out a 1-0 win in the game at Celtic Park, all eyes were on Rangers and a potential slip-up in Gorgie.

Hearts had plenty of pre-match confidence as evidenced by Ewen Cameron and Rangers deserve credit for withstanding Hearts’ attack and being clinical to open up a two-goal advantage.

Rangers deserved winners as Ewen Cameron sees Hearts broken

Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring after some great work from Fashion Sakala and Joe Aribo showed his class with a lovely touch and finish to make it two.

This was too big a mountain to climb for Hearts but the match did have some outstanding moments from both goalkeepers with both Allan McGregor and Craig Gordon pulling off impressive saves.

After the Scottish Premiership weekend finished Rangers remain top by four points whilst Hearts maintain their five point advantage in 3rd, having now lost four league games this season.

Here’s three things we learned as Rangers broke Ewen Cameron Hearts and made it four from four under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Scottish Premiership.
