Rangers talent Zak Lovelace shows why clubs in the Premier League were linked to his services with a call-up to the England national team set-up.
The 17-year-old Rangers striker has been called up to the England U17s after some fine form with the Ibrox club’s B Team helped him break through into the Rangers top team earlier in the season.
Zak Lovelace has been called up to the England squad alongside several top talents from around the Premier League for the U17s clashes with Denmark, Northern Ireland and the Netherlands.
This comes after the striker has impressed with the Rangers B team this season, the player bouncing back from a knock against Real Madrid to score a wonderful Zak Lovelace solo goal.
This followed on from a Zak Lovelace hattrick earlier in the Lowland League season, as well as a Lovelace double in the UEFA Youth League against Italian giants Napoli.
The England youth international striker also made his debut for Rangers earlier in the season, with Zak Lovelace coming off the bench in the 3-1 win over Queen of the South in the League Cup in August.
England call adds to bubbling Zak Lovelace excitement
There is a lot of excitement around the player, who’d already made his top team debut for Millwall before Rangers pounced in the summer.
Rangers were said to have held off interest from the likes of Premier League Brighton and Leicester City to take advantage of cross-border compensation rules to sign Lovelace, much to the dismay of Millwall boss Gary Rowett.
The Gers have exploited the loophole effectively in the past and there is major hopes that young England hero Zak Lovelace can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo.
And the player is showing exactly why with his recent form, Lovelace already proving better than the rest at B team level and surely beginning to knock on the first-team door at the club.
Rangers boss Michael Beale is famed for working with young England-based players and let’s hope that Zak Lovelace can flourish under the guidance of the former Liverpool and Chelsea youth coach.
