Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers is determined to prove his doubters wrong at Rangers.
But the former Feyenoord and Cremonese striker is also ready to get one over on those who doubt his credentials with the Super Eagles.
Back in the Nigeria squad for the latest round of internationals, Cyriel Dessers is back amongst the goals as the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer picks up where he left off at Rangers.
Cyriel Dessers scores on Nigeria return
Cyriel Dessers was making his first appearance for Nigeria since being dropped by the country in March and did not disappoint on his return to the team.
Dessers, 30, opened the scoring with a controlled finish in the Ghana box, side footing past the goalkeeper to put his side ahead in London.
With the match being played at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, Nigeria would go on to record a 2-1 victory with Dessers grabbing the headlines post-match.
Speaking ahead of the game, Dessers admitted it’s his career ‘dream’ to play at a major international tournament with the country.
”Obviously, when you get the call, you want to go,” Dessers told SoccerNet. “I’ve already had a few beautiful moments with the national team, but I hope to add more.
“I hope to play in big tournaments. It would be a dream, it would almost complete my career if I could go to a major tournament with Nigeria, with the Super Eagles, and hopefully win something there.”

Speaking after the match, former Nigeria striker Brown Ideye appealed to Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to give the Rangers striker more minutes.
In a post on social media platform X, former West Brom hitman Ideye insists that Dessers’ form at Ibrox is worthy of more opportunities with Nigeria.
