Rangers pair Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo could be set for post-injury Euro 2024 redemption with Wales.

The Ibrox stars have suffered over the last year with injury problems, Tom Lawrence in particular a potentially sore miss for Wales after rupturing his cruciate ligament.

Rabbi Matondo – who struggled in his first year at Rangers but who started settling in nicely this campaign – is also nursing yet another issue with the Ibrox side.

But as Wales’ European Championship qualifying campaign leads the nation to the competition’s playoffs, perhaps both Rangers stars will have a role to play in the country’s Euro 2024 fate.

Rangers star can be Wales difference maker

Tom Lawrence – who has 23 caps – was once one of the nation’s key players but hasn’t been capped since 2021; something the switch to Rangers was supposed to remedy.

Rabbi Matondo returned to the Wales reckoning back in September but never added to his 11 caps, the last appearance for the Rangers star coming in June last year.

Both players offer something different going forward, with the creative talents of Tom Lawrence only this week bummed up by Welsh coach and former Rangers staffer Ceri Bowley.

A dynamic midfielder who can dribble with the ball, play a pass and shoot from range, it’s well understood that Tom Lawrence has been a big loss to the Rangers squad over the last year.

Showing glimpses of his best against Livingston before the break, Rangers fans will hope to start seeing more from the 29-year-old and if he can do so a return to the Wales reckoning will surely beckon.

Rabbi Matondo set to return from injury

As for Rabbi Matondo, the winger’s comeback from a disastrous first season at Ibrox has been interrupted by injury and it’s a source of real frustration at Rangers.

The winger exploded into life earlier in the campaign after a disastrous first season in Glasgow and is back in training having been sidelined since September.

Wales will face off against Finland in a home semi-final on March 21st next year with the Final, against either Poland or Estonia, set for March 26th.

Wales will believe those are very winnable ties with four months plenty of time for Rangers stars Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo to stake a claim for redemption.
