Former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson could soon be running the rule over Rangers stars at Ibrox – but this time as Scotland boss.
The iconic Swedish manager managed the Auld Enemy between 2001 and 2006 and it would be a major turn up for the books should he take over at Hampden.
More than just be an extremely left-of-field appointment, Eriksson is also 71. One of the major complaints about Alex McLeish was his old fashioned take on football.

The Sun claim Ian Maxwell put the name of Sven Goran Eriksson forward at an SFA Board meeting on Tuesday. Eriksson himself displayed surprise at being linked with the job but said he was “honoured” to be.
Speaking to talkSPORT the former Lazio manager put his name into the ring.
“It comes out of the blue, so I have no idea, but of course I’m honoured,” said Sven. “Scotland is a big job, it’s a huge football country.

“We’ll see if it’s happening”

“But I haven’t thought at all about it. We’ll see if it’s happening, if there’s something behind it or not.
“The passport is saying I am a certain age, but I don’t feel it. I still like to work, I love football.

“So if something interesting comes up I will go for it. If nothing happens, okay, that’s it. We’ll see.”
Former Gers boss Alex McLeish left his post as Scotland manager earlier this month after a rocky start to his second spell in charge of the national team.
The likes of Sven Goran Eriksson, Slaven Bilic, Steve Clarke and Scot Gemmill amongst the bookie’s favourites for the job.
