Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish has left his post as Scotland manager with immediate effect.
The news was announced by the Scottish Football Association as the pressure on the Aberdeen legend finally tells. He leaves the national side by mutual consent.
He will be followed out the door by coaches Peter Grant, James McFadden and Stevie Woods.

It leaves the national side in turmoil as they toil in European Championship qualifying. An early defeat to Kazakhstan and an unconvincing showing against San Marino means Scotland may well have fluffed their best chance of qualifying for a major tournament in close to 20 years.
McLeish did manage to guide Scotland into the Nations League playoffs which will present Scotland another chance to qualify.
Whilst the nation is not completely out of the Group I race for qualification, they’re up against Belgium and also Russia for a space in the tournament. The Nations League playoff probably now represents Scotland’s best chance of qualification.
Names being touted for the role include David Moyes, Alex Neil and Steve Clarke. Rangers also have a range of individuals who would want to be involved in the Scotland squad.

The likes of Ryan Jack, Ross McCrorie, Glenn Middleton and Jamie Murphy will be looking to impress the new boss going into the next season.
But does McLeish’s tumultuous reign for Scotland prove Rangers dodged a bullet with the former treble-winning manager?
