Rangers responded after the official Northern Ireland national team account tweeted about Steven Davis’ record-breaking appearance on Wednesday night.
Davis became the most-capped UK footballer in history by making his 126th international appearance in a World Cup Qualifier against Bulgaria at Windsor Park.

Northern Ireland released a tribute video to the midfield maestro in advance of kick-off as well as a graphic marking his incredible achievement.
Rangers were also keen to praise Davis, responding to NI’s graphic and posting several pieces of their own content.
The Gers account labelled the 36-year-old a ‘model professional’ who ‘continues to set standards on and off the field for club and country.’
Clips from RangersTV interviews of Michael Beale and Ross Wilson soon followed while quotes from former Rangers and Northern Ireland stars Gareth McAuley and David Healy appeared on the club’s website [Rangers.co.uk].
It’s a truly remarkable feat from Davis considering some of the greats that have represented the home nations down the years and it’s a fitting reward for a player who has been through a lot with Northern Ireland since making his debut back in 2005.

Unfortunately, though, he wasn’t able to lead his side to victory against an inexperienced but stubborn Bulgaria.
The hosts enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and created some good openings, but were unable to find the net and the game ended 0-0.
After a defeat and a draw to start Group C, their chances of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup already look slim.
Meanwhile, Rangers fans have responded to a rousing official Rangers video that contains a supporter plea.
