Glen Kamara’s joyous mood was dampened ever so slightly on Monday evening, as Finland suffered defeat at the hands of Greece in Athens.

That partying was well justified, considering this is the first time the nation has ever qualified for a major tournament.

However, perhaps it had an effect on performance, as just a few days later, they were outplayed in the Greek capital.

Kamara played the full game in midfield and may have thought his side were on course for a seventh win in ten qualifiers when the prolific Teemu Pukki gave them the lead after 27 minutes.

However, Greece rallied with a second-half performance which would secure them third spot in the group.

Petros Mantalos drew them level immediately after the interval before midfielder Konstantinos Galanopoulos won it in the 70th minute.

Given that Greece had close to 60% possession and mustered an impressive 26 shots on goal in comparison to Finland’s four [Sky Sports], there could be few complaints from the away camp.

Qualification was always the main goal and Kamara and co. will certainly still be delighted with their overall efforts, but this result will be disappointing, as they had targeted a victory to help their seeding ahead of the Finals [Daily Record].

Bears will be delighted that the midfielder appeared to make it through unscathed, as he will have a big part to play at club level in what promises to be a demanding December.
