Rangers hero Aaron Ramsey has been called up to the Wales national team alongside fellow superstar Gareth Bale as the pair target World Cup glory.

The Juventus loanee and £83.5m Real Madrid winger are the biggest assets in Rob Page’s squad and could play in a pivotal role in the nation reaching Qatar 2022.

Wales are set to play in a World Cup Playoff against Austria during the break – with the loser playing a friendly against Scotland – as they hope to qualify for the first time since 1958.

If the nation can get past Austria, then they will play the winner of Scotland v Ukraine with that match rescheduled until June due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Rangers fans may well be nervous about the situation given Aaron Ramsey’s current fitness situation, the player only returning to the fray in the 3-0 win over Dundee this weekend.

Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale ready for Wales

For Wales manager Robert Page, both Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale, who has played 77 minutes since August, are both fit and ready to deliver for the country.

“They’re big players for us and of course we want them playing games coming into camp,” said Page [Guardian].

“But the good thing is they’re both fit, raring to go and can’t wait to get on camp. The big players turn up for big games. They’ve proven that over time and done it time and time again.”

This will no little to dispel the nerves of Ibrox supporters who saw flashes of what Aaron Ramsey is capable of in the win over Dundee.

Time is running out for the midfielder to find his feet and form at Ibrox and if Ramsey can’t get up to speed and Rangers fail to lift silverware the signing will go down as a poor one.

The pressure is therefore on Aaron Ramsey to deliver and let’s hope that the time away with Wales serves as a positive experience for the player and his fitness.

It’s not only the fitness of Aaron Ramsey that has Rangers fans nervous amid international call-ups in the international break.
