The Scottish Sun reports that Rangers’ next Europa League Group G opponents, BSC Young Boys, are in the midst of an ‘injury crisis’.

The Gers are set to travel to Berne to take on the Swiss outfit next Thursday. Some Bears are still planning to travel, despite the club not requesting any tickets following UEFA charges [Rangers.co.uk].

Rangers receive European boost

The lack of support within the stadium will make things difficult, but with six first-team opposition players set to miss the clash and Young Boys struggling for form, things are looking up.

The biggest name on the injury list is Miralem Sulejmani. The former Ajax winger recorded a remarkable seven goals and twelve assists in the Swiss Super League last season, despite playing just 17 matches [Transfermarkt].

He will miss out alongside summer signing Marvin Spielmann, imposing Guinea international centre-back Mohamed Ali Camara, midfielder Sandro Lauper and 38-cap Luxembourg international Christopher Martins.

Ivory Coast international forward Roger Assale is also unlikely to feature due to a thigh injury, leaving the Gers’ opponents depleted.

Further good news for Steven Gerrard and co., is that Young Boys have only won one of their last six matches in all competitions. They hammered Freienbach 11-2 a fortnight ago, but lost their Europa League opener against Porto and have drawn their last two league games.

If Rangers can take something from their first away trip in Group G, they’ll put themselves in a strong early position, following an excellent opening matchday win over Feyenoord.
