Rangers nerves jangle as latest from Ibrox contradicts RB Leipzig claim

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst could not confirm if both Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey will be fit for the club’s Europa League semi-final second leg v RB Leipzig.

The Dutch coach was speaking ahead of the game as the Gers look to overcome a 1-0 deficit at Ibrox with both players missing since the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic.

Reports had emerged yesterday that both were looking increasingly likely to be involved in the match in some capacity but Gio has tempered expectations ahead of the game.

Rangers went to Germany and played without a recognised striker and the inclusion of Kemar Roofe in particular would be a sizeable boost.

Similarly, Aaron Ramsey poses a goal threat from midfield and both his ability and experience represent major assets for Rangers when fit.

But for fans getting excited reading the news regarding both players yesterday, nerves may well begin to jangle as the club looks to reach the Europa League Final in Seville.

Doubts surround Rangers duo ahead of RB Leipzig clash

Rangers manager van Bronckhorst claims that both players will face late fitness tests and he remains unclear if they’ll be involved v RB Leipzig.

“It depends how the training will go. When they got injured we all knew that they would work towards the game tomorrow [Thursday],” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“Of course I will wait as long as possible, but the most important thing for me is that they are physically able to play a part in tomorrow’s game, that is always the deciding factor.

“We still have one day to prepare. Today will be an important day for both. I cannot tell you if they are in the squad for tomorrow or not.”

Rangers’ clash with RB Leipzig also comes after the sudden passing of Ibrox kitman Jimmy Bell this week, something which has rocked the club.

The Gers are already planning tributes to the legendary figure, with players and staff alike devastated to lose such a humble and important Ranger.
