Rangers in double injury boost ahead of RB Leipzig Euro clash

Influential Rangers striker Kemar Roofe is winning his battle to be fir for the clash with RB Leipzig, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun are claiming the Jamaican international is set to return from a knee injury that has seen him miss the last three matches.

As the Gers hope to reach the Europa League Final in Seville and overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, this is a major boost indeed.

The Ibrox side had gone to Germany and played without a recognised striker as they looked to shut up shop and take something back to Glasgow.

Rangers defended valiantly against RB Leipzig but eventually fell to a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a sweet Angelino volley amid claims of potential offside.

Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey back in Rangers contention v Leipzig

The report tempers any expectations that Kemar Roofe will automatically start the match by suggesting the news means Giovanni van Bronckhorst is optimistic he will be part of the squad.

The absence of Kemar Roofe is made worse by a season-ending injury to striker Alfredo Morelos, who definitely won’t be involved against RB Leipzig.

Striker Fashion Sakala played – and scored – against Celtic but there remain legitimate doubts regarding his ability to effectively lead the line by himself.

The report also mentions Aaron Ramsey and claims that the Welsh international is another who is hoping to play some part in the Europa League semi-final second leg.

Juventus loanee Ramsey has been out of the side ever since sustaining a hamstring knock in the Scottish Cup win over Celtic and Rangers will be hoping his experience can contribute on Thursday.

Rangers will be preparing to leave it all on the park against Leipzig and the Ibrox team have just been handed even more inspiration, if they ever needed it.

Legendary Ibrox kitman Jimmy Bill has sadly passed away and as tributes flood in from players past and present, perhaps this can act as a catalyst for the side to reach Seville.
